The
Pacific Association of Violin Makers was formed as a meeting
place
and forum for independent violinmakers. and as a vehicle
for education, communication and promotion of makers,
players and teachers within the region. Our focus
during the first year will be to establish a quarterly
newsletter The Scroll, and a web site www.pavm.org. These
endeavors will be directed by volunteer members within
PAVM.
Quarterly
meetings will be scheduled for our growing membership.
Visiting guests are welcome. Subjects related to construction
of instruments and bows and their repair will be discussed
and ideas and articles will be submitted. PAVM will
support teachers, schools, and youth orchestras, as
well as professional players. We intend to profile students
who have worked hard and excelled and teachers who go
the extra mile in working with string players.
Our
goal is to include the whole violin community in our
efforts to support and maintain excellence in education
and to offer a good inventory of instruments and quality
repair when needed. We welcome your suggestions, support.
